As explained before, poporopos is the Guatemalan Spanish word for popcorn. Most other Spanish-speaking countries use palomitas. I believe Guatemala is the only country that uses the word poporopos. Poporopos are also one the staple foods at town fairs.

I believe in the Salvadorean provinces near the Guatemalan border is also used the word Poporopo. Across Latin America Popcorn is called different names.
