From The Parking Lot to Antigua Guatemala

Rudy Giron: Portraits &emdash;

I met filmmaker Meghan Eckman at Calle del Arco on Sábado de Gloria and what a glorious meeting that was. Meghan filmed and produced an interesting and offbeat documentary about one particular parking lot in Charlottesville, Virginia. You can find The Parking Lot Movie on Netflix and iTunes. As many other before her, she felt in love with Antigua and Guatemala in general and now she’s working on creating another documentary based on Guatemala. It’s been an honour to meet such a creative person and I am sure Meghan and I will collaborate soon. I will keep you guys posted.

By the way, I made this dramatic portrait of Meghan Eckman right there on the street with absolutely no preparation at all; what do you guys think, should I create a series about portraits I make of the people I meet in Antigua Guatemala?

  1. I imagine you meet lots of interesting people, so it would be great to know why they also love Antigua. Many of us find the expression for our own love of Antigua through ADP. The pictures show us all the things that trigger our best emotions and the thoughtful commentary is always respectful and consultative; leaving open space for our personal ideas and imagination.The pages of ADP express better than we can all the emotion we feel for La Antigua, Guatemala and its people…so let’s hear from more inspired artists!

  2. Yes as well to a portrait series. But, stay with the more dramatic B& W images. I think that it’s also the bigger challenge for the photographer.
