Typical Rainy Season Vistas from Antigua Guatemala

Believe or not, there are some benefits to the rainy season in Guatemala. For one, because the rainy season engulfs the hot weather of Spring, Summer and Autumn, our Summer is actually very comfortable to the point that most Guatemalans actually call it Winter.

The rainy season also brings all the necessary water for everything to bloom which makes the landscape in Guatemala vibrant green. This, of course, also makes the production of food, such as vegetables and maize.

Last but not least, for photography, it makes possible to take good photos during the hours when normally you couldn’t such lunch. Of course, the clouds can also make interesting patterns which make photographs even more appealing.

I was thinking all yesterday morning (GMT) of sitting in a Spanish corridor in La Antigua, with volcan Agua in the background, watching the afternoon rain trailing down the hanging “cola de quetzal” plants and drinking a hot chcolate…..then you come along with today’s webpage! Well Rudy, are you now going to add telepathy to your already extensive list of talents and gifts??

As I have written on many occasions…sorry, but here it comes one more time…the rainy season is a great excuse to hide out in a cafe for a few hours, talking with the staff, and the people who get to call La Antigua “home”. On my visit last year, I heard someone shout “Eric!”, and when I turned around, there was a waitress I had met two years before! It always makes me feel honored when the good people of Guatelinda remember me, after not seeing me for months…or years!
