These colourful balls are found at fairs and on the streets of Antigua Guatemala on the weekends and holidays. Can anyone guess why I said these are organic balls? The first correct answer will receive a photo post card mailed to their home or office.
By the way, if you live near NYC, put “Guatemala Después” on your cultural agenda. Enjoy!

Those balls are made of tripa de coche, pig intestines. Is that why you call them “organic”? As if, for example, rubber was inorganic?
Aww, they beat me to the answer. What memories! They were awesome to kick around, until they deflated. Nature is so nurturing, tripa de coche is also used to make the longanizas and chorizos. Although it is a sad thing that longanizas nowadays look more like small meatballs.
