Tour Antigua the old-fashion way

horse carriage

One way to tour La Antigua Guatemala is through the horse-powered carriage rides around town. If you can obviate the buses, the automobiles, the motorcycles, the tuk tuks, in short—all modern vehicles, then you can almost feel like in the 18th century. Now, pull out your digital camera and set it in the sepia mode and shoot away.

Beautiful photo. I love the details of the building, and the carriage and horse are just too cool.

    Hey Rudy,
I got to see the city on a carriage about two years ago with my wife, with her brother and wife, they loved the city, They are from El Salvador and found the city unexpetedly beautiful. If we make to our 25th Anniversary we will probably celebrate it in Antigua. We still have 18yrs to go.

Celine: you can see many building like this one when you tour or walk around Antigua.

Meg: good advise, I will try it myself. ;-)

Javier: Good luck on your mission. I will see you in 18 years then. :-( Come one Javier, traveling to Central America is dirt cheap and even more so to visit Antigua. Real Estate in Antigua is expensive, but everything else is cheap. Come on down… enjoy this town while you can.

  6. Javier responds:

LOL, Rudy, I will be in Guate next year to visit my grandmother, she is 92. Of course I will go on a more regular basis. I am madly in love with Guate, and Antigua of course. It brings me childhood memories. Everytime I go to Antigua, on my way to La Capital, I always stop to drink some Atol de Elote.
Thanks for your page I check it everyday.
