Angels and Saints for Sale

Rudy Giron: AntiguaDailyPhoto.com &emdash; Angels and Saints for Sale

Back in May 2008 I shared the first of photo of this old man from the high lands of Guatemala who comes down to Antigua Guatemala to sell his creations, mostly carved angels, but sometimes even saints. I really admire this artisan who can barely speaks Spanish, yet he launches every week to the streets to sell his art to English and Spanish speakers mostly, but in Antigua Guatemala who knows, you can encounter people from all over the world, right?

Back then I asked, “Why do creators always look down upon their creations?”

  1. Rudy, did you notice the “salvavidas” sign above the saint’s head? It’s just one more thing to love about this photo. I have a small angel I purchased from this gentleman while eating at Quesos y Vinos. I’m very happy to see him again!
