Good Friday in San Pedro Las Huertas, Antigua Guatemala

Even though Antigua Guatemala is the top destination in the world for the Holy Week celebrations, many destination through out Guatemala also have processions, vigils and decorate the streets with colorful carpets and adorn their houses with vibrant flower bouquets.

Of course, the villages of Antigua Guatemala are quite active during Lent and Easter week, except this year when the entire county was pretty much silent due to the lockdown, curfews and reduced mobility between the different provinces of Guatemala.

Just about the only sound you can hear on Good Friday all over the different villages and in Antigua Guatemala itself, was the sound of delivery motorcycles buzzing through all the empty streets.
