Corner Doorway at La Casa Amarilla

Corner Door in La Antigua Guatemala

If you can have a corner window, why not have a corner door, really why not?

Can you tell me why doorways are so big in La Antigua Guatemala? Hint the answer is in the archives of this site. Go happy hunting! :-)

Why not? ;-) As to your quiz, should I answer in the form of a question? (Jeopardy theme playing in the background). For 1000, Mr. Rudy, what are horses were once used in the colonial city and thus the doorways needed to big enough for both horse and rider?

That was quick! phew… Pues yo no sabía, pero sabían porque las puertas de las Iglesias son tan grandes?… para que quepa el Altísimo… (humor Católico) :-P

    Right on Carmen.

It’s so rustic and beautiful, I absolutely love the faroles on both sides.

So you can park your car inside to protect it!

I’d go along with Carmen’s answer.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a corner door before. Very interesting.

Oh, I love this photo! It brought back lovely memories of long walks through the streets of Antigua. My family lived at Santa Rosa, the back entry of which is just down the walkway next to the Casa Amarilla. As soon as we were close enough to spy the yellow wall, we knew we were almost home. Thanks for the lovely, sunny reminder of our warm days in Antigua — something we are all missing as we freeze here in the chilly north.
