Surf Shop in La Antigua Guatemala

Surf Shop in La Antigua Guatemala

The waves are getting closer to La Antigua Guatemala. So it is no surprise to find a “surf shop” in a Spanish colonial town embedded between coffee plantations, flower farms and volcanoes.

Actually, you can get straight down to the Pacific Ocean in about 45 to 60 minutes (depends on your safety level while driving) through one of the most beautiful stretches of road in Guatemala, known simply as Carretera 14 (road #14) and then the highway in Escuintla. Two prime beaches for surfing are Monterrico and Sipacate, both of them about two hours from La Antigua Guatemala.

Surf is up, dude, bring your board along.

Aloha!

Hola! I am visiting La Antigua in April with my two young daughters. We are staying at the school for part of the time and in a hotel for the last three days. Your website seems helpful to me as a native New Yorker and one who has a great affinity for the Guatemalan culture (only vicariously through the students I work with in the states) so I am so psyched to visit for the first time. So, any recommendations for family friendly hotels with a pool? Willing to splurge since it is only three nights. Additionally, my husband will be joining us and interested in surfing lessons. I am guessing we will need to hire a private person and car to make the trek with the two little ones in tow. Any info you have would be great!

you’re def better off like you said hiring a person w/ a car, especially w/ 2 little ones. Wish I could be more helpful w/ hotels but I’m in the same boat, I’m in NY as well. I wish you lots of luck - please update us and let us know how it went. . .will you be there for holy week?
