Yes, it’s almost like when you travel you dress like a tourist on purpose. I wonder if people go to the tourist stores to get the same outfits as all other tourists.
When a guatemalteca friend visited me recently, she said “It’s funny, you dress the same way here in los EEUU as you do in Pana.” I think I’m just made for t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers. But there’s always a pair of nice leather shoes in the backpack for the lustradores to work on. 😀
So, how come you don’t go to the tourist shop before your trip to get your tourist attire? 😉
Because Don Eric visits Guatemala for 3 reasons:
1) to make personal contact with a part of history grossly overlooked in his native land,
2) to strengthen friendships with some of the warmest, most genuine people he has ever met, and
3) to encounter potential candidates for “Mrs. Don Eric”.
