Maya woman cooking corn on the cub

Rudy Giron: Antigua Guatemala &emdash; Maya woman cooking corn on the cub

Who wants freshly made corn on the cob?

As I have mentioned before, we are hombres de maíz, men of maize, therefore a big portion of the Guatemalan diet is based on corn. We eat maize in so many ways from tortillas to tamales, charbroiled or boiled corn on the cub, either with just salt and lime juice or turned into elotes locos. How would you like to eat your corn on the cub today?

By the way, this portrait was done in the village of San Cristóbal El Alto, Antigua Guatemala.
