The Raising of a 17-meter Giant Kite for All Saints’ Day

The Raising of a 17-meter Giant Kite for All Saints' Day by Rudy Giron

The cooperative “Jóvenes Pioneros” a 30-member group at the moment they raise their 17-meter giant kite with the theme Identidad, Identity, at the cemetery of Santiago Sacatepéquez, Guatemala, a tradition which dates back more than 119 years.

This photograph was captured as part of my intensive Day of the Dead photo workshop. We had a full 10-hr day that took us everywhere to document the different ways Guatemalans celebrate Day of the Dead and All Saints Day. Make sure you book your spot for the 2019 Day of the Dead street photography workshop; spaces are limited!

Also, thanks to the German Photo Agency DPA, this photograph and other 8 images were published by many newspapers and online media websites around the world.
