Spanish colonial architecture was based on a central patio with fountain (most of the time) surrounded by rooms. This rebuilt building is a good example of this type of layout.
There are still some horse carriages in Antigua, mostly used by tourists and by couples who want to have a romantic ride. La Antigua Guatemala is characterized by its colonial atmosphere. Ruins, churches, arches, gardens, and fountains everywhere.
