Volcán Fuego is having another period of intense activity. This is what the volcanic eruptions looked like this morning. Ash is everywhere now and during the night you can see the lave rivers. Volcán Fuego is an extraordinary neighbor to have around. It never bores us.

Volcán Fuego does not care whether it is raining, snowing, or trembling. Fuego erupts in a regular basis, around 7 times an hour, I have heard from INSIVUMEH, Guatemala’s National Institute of Sismology, Vulcanology, Weather and Hydrology.
To wake up to the vista of ice capped volcanoes in Antigua Guatemala is not common at all, but it does happens every few years. I guess the combination of a cold front and some rain does the magic. Let’s enjoy it while it lasts.

Volcán Fuego is such an exhibitionist, don’t you think? I mean, it needs so much attention, 10 to 40 times a day, if not more. And if we can’t see it, Fuego will make sure we can listen to it. Volcán Fuego is among the best perks of living in La Antigua Guatemala, methinks.
