Calle del Arco after heavy rains brought by tropical storm Franklin. Photo by Antigua Daily Photo reader David Melgar As promised, here’s a similar vista of volcán Agua covered with clouds brought by tropical storm Franklin. In only a few hours, the tropical storm dumped so much rain that many of the streets and roads in and around Antigua Guatemala became rivers. Of course, after so much rain, photographers always find a way to bring forth beauty as you can see in this lovely picture of Calle del Arco during the blue hour taken by Antigua Daily Photo reader David Melgar. Make sure you click it to view a bit larger. Enjoy!

The photo of the Arco is really beautiful… and it would be soooo much more beautiful without those stupid cars !!!! When are they finally gonna ban all traffic from Calle del Arco for good ??? Can’t we start a petition or something ?
… but it would be great for the businesses too : the restaurants and cafés could/should put some tables and chairs outside .. The would make more money and the people could enjoy the atmosphere even more, do people watching while having a nice cafe or lunch outside;.. For the beautiful weather Antigua has almost all year round, they should profit more from it by having more outside seating.

Who knows Jeannine, that’s something that many people believe would be really great, except the businesses on Calle del Arco, of course.

Sounds great, but I am sure there’s a perspective we are unaware of, there’s no way businesses would oppose without any valid reasons.
