Today I share with you a close-up view of the Moorish baroque details of the façade of Iglesia de La Merced; one of the most photogenic churches in Antigua Guatemala. Make sure to take a look at the full size photograph.
The dome is gone, but the pillars adorned with giant mermaids remain of the lateral aisle of the San Francisco El Grande Church in the southeast of Antigua Guatemala. Come back tomorrow to see a close-up view of one of the giant mermaids carved in each corner of this structure.
I believe this is the best and cleanest photograph I have shared with you of the main center piece of the Real Palacio de La Cultura in 15 years. How about you, do remember seeing a better picture in all these years?
Fuego volcano puffing about rooftops is another typical sight from Antigua Guatemala. Fuego volcano could make this photograph better if it had give us an eruption, even a tiny one, don’t you agree? Nevertheless, I still like the play of light and shadows at the frontispiece of this rooftop.
The two obvious elements of what make this typical sight of Antigua Guatemala are the Acatenango volcano and the cupola. The less obvious, yet as important is the gorgeous light we often have in Antigua Guatemala at the margins of the day. I hope you enjoy this image as much as I did making it!
