How to put a Flickr Slideshow on your blog

After my inclusion of a slide show along with my daily photo for September 15th, 2006, some people asked how to do it. I will not bore you or punish you with long explanation and details. I will just the code for it and little explanation of it.

What you need before you can post the code in your blog:

  1. You need to have a Flickr account.
  2. You need to upload photos to your Flickr account.
  3. You need to organize your photos somehow, in either sets or very specific and unique tags.

Here is the code for the Slideshow of a Flickr set:

<iframe src="http://www.Flickr.com/slideShow/
index.gne?user_id=87654321@N00&set_id=123456789"
width="500" scrolling="no" height="500" ></iframe>

The things you need to change in the code above are:
user_id=87654321
set_id=123456789

  1. You can find out what your Flickr user_id is by visiting idGettr and entering your Flickr username.
  2. You can find out what your set_id is by copying the numbers in the url http://www.flickr.com/photos/myname/sets/156519/ after the word sets/

Here is the code for the Slideshow of a Flickr tag:

<iframe src="http://www.Flickr.com/slideShow/
index.gne?user_id=87654321@N00&tags=whateverTAGyouwant"
width="500" scrolling="no" height="500" ></iframe>

The things you need to change in the code above are:
user_id=87654321
&tags=whateverTAGyouwant

  1. You can find out what your Flickr user_id is by visiting idGettr and entering your Flickr username.
  2. You have to replace whateverTAGyouwant with the tag or tags you want
  3. The tag has to be unique to your selected photos, otherwise the slide show will include all the photos in Flickr that are tagged with your keyword.

Other options are “contacts”, “text=”, “tag_mode=”, “favorites=”, “group_id=”, “frifam=”, “nsid=”, “single=”, “firstIndex=”, “set_id” and “firstId=”. More information can be found by visiting PaulStamatiou.com and idGettr.

Good luck on your next Slideshow and do not forget to stop by and let me know about it.
